Life Lessons From A Beginner Free Diver

It was a test of life and death experience for me. I don’t even know how to swim. I have a heart failure. I’m weak physically but amidst all, I gave my whole bravery to do this. Always believe in yourself.

What is really like under the sea?

I don’t know how to swim. Yes. You read it right. Diving has always been on my bucket list. I am the type of girl who always wanted extreme adventure even if my life is at risk. A sense of familiarity rushes through me and the instinctive urge to submerge myself overwhelms me, the depths of the sea is still terrifying. I sometimes experienced shortness of breath and I know this will be difficult for me to get into this diving. But hey! It takes a lot of courage, bravery, and confidence to achieve this. Staying Calm

This free diving taught me how to stay calm in the most difficult situations. You have to compose yourself first and be a steady calm before dipping into the water. This lesson in how not to panic when things go wrong, stop think and act, is something that you can easily translate into everyday life. The rigor of being prepared for all eventualities and always having a contingency plan in place is another lesson that free diving can teach you to apply to everyday life.

Breathe & Relax

You will feel panicky and might be stressed when you run out of breath under the water. Freediving doesn’t use any regulator or oxygen tanks. All you have to do is to always equalize by simply pinching your nose and create pressure from your diaphragm by trying to exhale through your nostrils against your pinched nose. You need to calm yourself and pay attention to your breathing like doing a yoga and meditation. Just like in our everyday life, you need to breath to get out of stress at times.

Learn to Have Fun

Learn to have fun with what you are doing. Freediving is fun despite the dangers, the risks and the need to stay focused. If you put much fun on this or any daily activities you do, the risks and hardships don’t matter anymore. You just have to be more confident in yourself.

Be Brave

Freediving, free-diving,breath-hold diving, or skin diving is a form of underwater diving that relies on breath-holding until resurfacing rather than the use of breathing apparatus such as scuba gear. I was not hesitant to do this diving because I am always into an extreme adventure. You develop a lot of braveness once you dive in the water.
